Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?
I was born in Colorado and moved to Libertyville when I was 7 years old (my dad was transferred to Chicago for his job). I lived throughout the Chicagoland area for college and jobs, but eventually settled back into Libertyville in fall of 2012. The Libertyville community is like no other and I am so grateful to be raising my family here. My family includes John, Kelly, Elijah (9), Jocelyn (7) and our beagle mix, Deanie.
What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without your kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?
Libertyville is a very walkable community, so we really enjoy taking walks and riding our bikes throughout town. Our favorite family friendly restaurant is Shakou! Date night…hard to pick! The great thing is there are so many places to enjoy breakfast, coffee, lunch, or dinner as a date!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor or in the corporate world? How’d you get involved with it?
I am so fortunate to be a part of a few local businesses in Libertyville which revolve around two of my favorite things – health and people! It is so rewarding to know that we are helping others in the community stay as healthy and as strong as they can be. My husband, John, is the clinic owner of Team Rehabilitation Libertyville, my sister-in-law and I have a mobile spray tan business, Soleil Spray Tanning, and most recently, I embarked on a new journey as a fitness instructor at RPM Cycle & Bootcamp, Heather’s Gym new cycle studio. My love of fitness and people make this a truly amazing job!
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Libertyville is a community of small businesses and entrepreneurs and everyone in town aims to support each other. I think being surrounded by this really speaks to the fact that if you are passionate about something and put your mind to it, you can truly do anything.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I have been on TV twice! Blinky’s Fun Club in Colorado when I was in preschool and Wheel of Fortune when I was in college.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?
Take time for you – self-care is not selfish.
What are your favorite places to travel near and far and why?
I love to travel anywhere! However, I have been traveling to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri every summer since I was 16. My parents have a lake home there now and it is always a place of pure fun, rest, and relaxation. We also love skiing together as a family.
I always hope to re-open the door to my career as a dietitian. And continue to enjoy living in Libertyville with my family and surrounded by friends!
