Dr. Jordan Leasure practices alongside her sister Dr. Jade Dellinger at North Shore Pro-Active Health. They grew up in Libertyville and are very involved in their community. Jordan is huge supporter of her hometown, the people in her community, and other local business owners. She loves to give back by sponsoring local little league and offering a special chiropractic program to all current LHS and VHHS athletes.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?
Easy answer! I was born and raised in Libertyville (Green Oaks to be exact!) I attended Oak Grove 1-8 and LHS. I was actually “Miss Green Oaks” when I was 17, that is my local claim to fame. I’ve lived in Libertyville on and off my whole life. I left initially to go away to college to the University of Kansas – Go Jayhawks! but I returned after graduating from Chiropractic school to open my office in downtown Libertyville. It’s hard to believe that was almost 13 years ago.
Do you have child(ren)? Age(s
I have one amazing son – Parker. He just turned two and like everyone says the time flies.
What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without your kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?
I’ve made it a priority to take Parker with me everywhere. I do a lot of networking for our businesses so he’s been going to meetings with me since birth. I do my best to support other local small business owners so for coffee we typically frequent Hansa – on the other side of the RR tracks from our office in Libertyville. For lunch I’m a fan of Shakou (owned by another LHS classmate – Adam Garvanian) or Mickey Finns (as I’m sure everyone knows owner Brian Grano is a friend and incredible supporter of everything Libertyville). Date nights are hard to come by but nothing beats sitting in the lounge at The Tavern. We also love Board & Brush in downtown Libertyville.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor or in the corporate world? Please share!
I would consider myself a serial entrepreneur in addition to being a wellness physician. I lost my grandfather at a young age and recently lost my dad. It’s my passion to help improve the health and therefore the lives of everyone I come in contact with so that they don’t have to experience the early losses that I did. Health is our number one commodity and I hope to improve the lives of those I meet.
My initial endeavor was North Shore Pro-Active Health, a state of the art wellness clinic in downtown Libertyville providing Chiropractic, Massage, Physical Therapy and Functional Medicine services for the past 13 years. The other physician in the practice is actually my younger sister Jade! She is a pediatric chiropractor so she sees all the pre/post natal patients as well as almost all the little ones!! When we say we’re a family practice ~ it doesn’t get any more family than that!
I’ve been a nationally recognized wellness speaker for over 10 years and in an attempt to better define our audience and really reach those that need us we started a wellness consulting firm called Healthy Lawyer. Attorneysare 3.6 times more likely to suffer from depression than non-attorneys, they suffer from multi-dimensional stressors and are twice as likely as the general population to suffer from drug and alcohol dependency. We provide wellness training, education and personalized programs for those in the legal space – lawyers, judges, support staff and even law students.
Dr. Jade and myself founded a physician grade supplement company, Salutogenic Life to address the needs our patients had to find a high quality, allergen and additive free supplement. We do extensive lifestyle counseling for patients, provide diet education, healthy movement patterns and stress management techniques. The only missing piece was a product we felt safe taking and providing to our families. Hence we created Salutogenic Life – There’s a nuance to the motivation when making decisions to deliberately get healthier vs making decisions to stay away from or heal from disease (pathogenesis). Our supplement line is available in our office, online and currently in other medical practices in 6 states. We’re hoping that during 2019 we can expand that to 20 states!
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The majority of our clients come from referral and we wouldn’t be able to do that without the strong ties of the community. We’ve had a blast sponsoring everything from little league teams to helping clients raise money for schools, women’s rights/needs groups and the annual 5k.
I have served on the Board of Directors for both the GLMV Chamber of Commerce and Mainstreet Libertyville. I’ve had the honor to work with some very motivated individuals that want to ensure life in Libertyville continues to be as picturesque & bustling as it has been and should be! Both Dr, Jade and I are very involved in supporting a local non-profit, Twice as Nice Mother and Child that distributed 300,000 disposable diapers to Lake County Moms in 2018.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I was a 4 year Varsity athlete at Libertyville High School – in Bowling!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?
The best advice I have gotten is from my mother Jan: Where so I start? There’s so much! I honestly don’t think there’s one piece of advice she verbally communcated to us, but it was the way she lived her life that has motivated Jade & I to emulate it that’s gotten us where we are today. Our mother is brilliant, strong and confident. She’s unique, unforgettable and kind. She’s a generous and supportive mother, a loving and doting daughter and a charismatic “glam-ma”. She sets an almost unrealistic example of what someone can accomplish in life when you’re true to yourself.
What is next for you?
Only time will tell…
