Lake Zurich Fishing Derby
34th Annual Lake Zurich Fishing Derby for AGES: 16 years and under
Celebrating 34 years! This fantastic free community event is held in honor of Lake Zurich residents Dick Schick and Bob Warren, who proudly ran and supported this tradition for our community. The derby is a catch-and-release event that encourages responsible fishing and helps protect the lake for future generations
Registration and Rules
All participants must register on the day of the event before starting to fish (registration is free and is located under Shelter A). Fishing shall not begin before 9 am to be eligible for prizes, fish must be registered by 11:29 am. Participants may fish from the shore of Paulus Park, or from boats or other shoreline areas.
There are five categories of fish:
- Bass
- Muskie
- Northern
- Panfish (crappie, blue gill, and perch)
- Walley
Fish sizes will be determined by length. In the event of a tie, the weight will be used to determine the winner.
Remember CPR: Catch, Picture, & Release! We encourage you to practice catch and release to preserve the lake’s eco system. Fish returned to the lake in good condition will receive the following bonus lengths:
- Panfish = +1/2 inch
- Bass, Northern, Muskie, Walleye = +1/2 inch
Participants must bring:
- Fishing pole
- Bait
- Bucket or container (optional)
