Meet a Mom: Veronica Kacherova | Libertyville Area Moms
Hello! Please introduce yourself.

My name is Veronica Kacherova.

Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?

I am originally from Kiev, Ukraine. My family and I immigrated to the United States in 2000. I currently live in Riverwoods with my husband and our 2 sons. I love the area due to the nature that surrounds it, my amazing neighbors and the great schools.

Do you have child(ren)? Age(s)?

I have 2 boys- Benjamin (7 years old) and Daniel (5 years old).

What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without your kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and friends on the shores of Lake Michigan. For a date night, my husband and I love Francesco’s Hole in the Wall in Northbrook.

In addition to the restaurants you mentioned, can you share your TOP 5 favorite local businesses?

Mindy Leonard with Super Organized Spaces is excellent at helping you get your house in order! I love Alina Renert for baby photography sessions and maternity photography. Nicola Levine is amazing for family photography sessions as your kids get older! Amy Alexander with a2salesandmarketing has been great with helping myself and my practice with our social media Shana Malin with Oh Happy Day Confections makes the yummiest treats and gift boxes or yummy goodness that I love gifting to friends and family members. Amy Ratnow with ALR connections is a great resource for local moms who are looking for full time or part time positions in the area.

What are your favorite places to travel near and far and why?

I love the Amalfi coast and Monaco for the beautiful views and London because the monarchy is so alive and present there.

Tell us about your business/organization.

Expert Family Eyecare is a full scope optometry practice for both children and adults. We treat all eye conditions and provide emergency eye care. We offer specialty dry eye services for patients suffering from dry eye disease and have a myopia management program that helps to slow down the progression of nearsightedness in children. The extensive selection in our optical department has choices for all styles, ages, and budgets.

What do you do in your position?

I am the optometrist at Expert Family Eyecare.

Why do you love your job?

I love being able to help my patients see and feel better. Many people do not realize how debilitating different eye conditions can be. I also love seeing my younger patients who need glasses put on their first pair – seeing their face light up when they can see the world clearer makes my heart full. I am passionate about children, especially the progression of nearsightedness in children. As a nearsighted person myself, who spent her childhood getting stronger and stronger glasses year after year, I am determined to slow down the progression of nearsightedness in my patients.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The support of local moms, business and networking groups has been instrumental in helping me grow my practice. Word of mouth is truly the best compliment and referral source.

What is your favorite thing about the Libertyville Area Moms Network?

I love learning about local moms and their business ventures and learning about their personal stories.

Please share two fun facts about yourself.

I only learned to ride a bicycle this past summer! I married my high school sweet heart.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?

Everything with kids is a stage and will eventually pass.

In an effort to keep it real, and not just show the sunny side, can you share with us a past or present struggle in your personal or professional life? Please also share how you overcame it or cope with it (or plan to)? We love gaining new tools for our mental wellness toolbox.

I had scoliosis as a child and had a spinal fusion at 16 years old. The 8 hour surgery and the months of recovery were difficult to handle as a teenager. At the time, my high school boyfriend and I were only dating for a month, but he stayed by my side from the day of the surgery, supported me as I struggled with physical therapy and hasn’t left my side since. 22 years later, we are happily married with two kids, running our optometry practice together and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Anything else you would like to share?

Thank you for allowing me to share my story!
