Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?

I’m a Libertyville native, as were several generations in my family. During elementary school my family moved to WA, but my dad’s job brought us back. I was an OGS Eagle and LHS Wildcat, class of 2006. I also lived in central Florida for ten years before a change in my life trajectory brought me back home. And it truly feels good to be home.

Do you have child(ren)? Age(s)

I’m a single mama to a sweet and spirited three year old daughter!

What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without your kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?

My favorite thing to do with my kiddo is enjoy time in nature. We are so fortunate to have such beautiful preserves in our area! We love Old School Forest Preserve, being immersed in the trees and of course spending time on the wooden playground. Independence Grove is another favorite!

And I can’t leave out visits to Cook Memorial Library! We love love love the children’s staff. Even with all of the literary adventures and fun in the kids department, it is the people who make our visits so special!

In addition to the restaurants you mentioned, can you share your TOP 5 favorite local businesses? It could be stores that you frequent for clothes, kids, home decor, healthcare, fitness, wellness, beauty salons or spas, or family resources (photographer, financial advisor, lawyer)… We love supporting local.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor or in the corporate world?

I am proud to say I am a team member at Life Time Vernon Hills. I have the joy and privilege of leading our youngest members in a variety of classes in the Kids Academy, such as arts and crafts, gymnastics, ballet, and more. When I first began working there, I had no idea how that place would impact me. I just needed somewhere I could make an income where my at the time 9 month old was welcomed too.

Not only did I get a job, I got a support system, an outlet for healthy living, and an opportunity to grow my gifts and talents in a way that makes a difference. I’m extremely grateful for the wonderfully welcoming and encouraging environment Life Time is. No matter what season of life you’re going through, there’s a place for you there, and there’s going to be a community of people there to cheer you on to be the best version of yourself!

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

People might be surprised to know that I worked at Walt Disney World for ten years performing in shows such as The Festival of the Lion King, Move It Shake It Celebrate It, and High School Musical 3! Mickey Mouse was my boss!

Are you involved in any volunteering or philanthropy? Do you have a favorite local non-profit or charity?

As someone who has personally benefited from their help, I am a huge advocate for A Safe Place. This non profit provides an array of services to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, including individual and group therapy, emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, legal advocacy, community and professional education, and more. A Safe Place brings hope and healing, and through their relentless efforts, I can attest they are helping give so many a brighter future.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?

Lean in to those mama instincts, and don’t shy away from them just because someone else doesn’t share the same convictions. Do what you feel is best and trust that God’s got them!
