Tell us a little about yourself.
Like most of the moms out there I wear many hats: wife, daughter, sister, friend, employee, motivator, and MOM. Being a mom, I also feel like I’m a doctor, scientist, teacher, detective, negotiator, therapist and short order cook! I have three beautiful children: Claire, age 9, Paddy, age 6, and Quinn, age 2. I am married to the coolest dude around, fixer of all things and my best friend, Adam. We moved to Libertyville from the city about 7 years ago and we love our Libertyville community!
What are some of your favorite things to do in the area?
We love Summer in Libertyville and our amazing neighborhood! Everyone shakes off the Winter blues and the muddy Spring to enjoy being outside and active. Our family enjoys going to Lake Minear, Concerts in the Park at Independence Grove, Dairy Dream on hot summer days, and splashing around in the pool at the Family Aquatic Center in Vernon Hills.
You’re a newer Instructor at Heather’s Gym, but you were first a member. What was it like to go from being in a class to leading the class?
In a word – TERRIFYING!! I thought that finding the time to study (with 3 young children) and pass the AFAA Group Fitness exam would be tough but then I stood in front of a room of people I was used to working out next to. I felt a mix of nerves and enormous responsibility. I felt responsible to deliver an amazing workout that would leave everyone feeling accomplished and happy that they came to class. Everyone’s time is precious and finding the time to exercise is so important. I wanted to deliver the high caliber class that people expect from Heather’s Gym. I love fitness, I love music, and I love to motivate people. Our amazing HG community made it an easy member-to-instructor transition for me. Every class I teach fills my bucket and the positive feedback from members is so rewarding.
Do you have a favorite class you teach? If so, why?
I love teaching CARDIObarre, BarreBLAST, Cycle + Strength, and World of Dance U-Jam! U-Jam is such a great way to sweat, get your heart rate up and have fun! I am encouraged to put my own personal style on all of my classes and I love using my own variety of music. All of my classes are a fun extension of ME.
As a busy mom, wife, friend, employee – what piece of advice or personal mantra has helped you?
Life is so precious and short. Surround yourself with people that fill your bucket and the rest falls into place. We live in an amazing and supportive community and I have the greatest family and friends. I will never take that for granted ❤️
