Meet A Mom: Laura Weppler of Navigating Fertility with Laura, LLC - Libertyville Area Moms

Hello! Please introduce yourself.

Hi, I’m Laura! I grew up in the northern suburbs of Illinois and now live in Libertyville with my husband and our two kids. I’m a registered nurse and have worked in the fertility space for over 12 years. Recently, I launched my own business—Navigating Fertility with Laura, LLC—where I offer personalized, compassionate support for individuals and couples going through fertility treatments. I’m deeply passionate about making fertility care more clear, emotionally supportive, and centered on the real-life experience of those going through it.

Outside of work, I also love to dance, bake (I run a custom cookie business called Laura’s Love Bites, LLC), and read all things Romantasy (ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, and anything with a dragon or fae warrior is right up my alley). At home, we’ve got a sweet beagle named Kyla and two mischievous tabby kittens—Reese and Bella—who are brother and sister. Life is full, fun, and a little chaotic, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?

I grew up in Lindenhurst, just south of the Wisconsin border, and have called Libertyville home for the past 14 years. My husband is a Libertyville native and teaches music at Butterfield School in District 70. We truly love this community and feel so grateful to be raising our children here.

Do you have children?

We have two children, Lucas (9) and Liam (7).

What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without your kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?

Our family absolutely loves Antioch Pizza Shop! We’ve been loyal fans since they opened in late 2023 and usually order from them a few times a month. In the summer, one of our favorite things to do is take a family walk up there—it’s just about a mile from our house—and treat ourselves to ice cream. We also love supporting other local spots: Dos Amigos is a go-to for takeout, Bagels by the Book is perfect for a quick breakfast, and we always enjoy strolling through the shops in downtown Libertyville. My husband and I are both avid runners and often hit the trails along the Des Plaines River, especially the path that leads to Independence Grove. I’m also a proud member of HG Studios and have been since 2020 (I joined during the pandemic!). It’s such a supportive community and has played a huge role in helping me improve my fitness over the last five years. Our oldest son, Lucas, has found a wonderful creative outlet through theater at The Improv Playhouse. And when we get a little kid-free time, my husband and I love relaxing on the patio at O’Toole’s with drinks and appetizers.

In addition to the restaurants you mentioned, can you share your TOP 5 favorite local businesses?

My husband is the music teacher at Butterfield Elementary School, and my brother-in-law owns Weppler Law Group, LLC, right next to Cook Park. We love supporting local businesses—our kids are big fans of Code Ninjas and KI Martial Arts in Red Top Plaza. My husband might just be Panera Bread’s most loyal customer—he stops by the Cambridge Plaza location so often (hello, Sips Club!) that he’s on a first-name basis with the manager. If you know him, you know he’s one of the most outgoing, friendly people you’ll ever meet—so it’s no surprise! There are so many amazing local businesses we love and support—I wish I could name them all!

Which podcasts and/or TED Talks inspire you the most?

I love listening to Radiolab and The Mel Robbins Podcast.

What are your favorite places to travel near and far and why?

We’re huge Disney fans—honestly, that might be an understatement. We’ve “traveled the world” at Epcot more times than we can count, and Disney truly feels like our home away from home. While we’ve loved visiting places like Hilton Head Island, there’s just something magical about Disney. It’s the one place where we can all let loose, embrace our inner kids, and soak up the joy together as a family.

Tell us about your business/organization.

Navigating Fertility with Laura, LLC was born from my own experience with infertility. My journey to parenthood was long, emotional, and often really isolating—and it ultimately took IVF to bring my two kids into the world. As a fertility nurse and IVF mom, I know firsthand how overwhelming this process can be, and how hard it is to find support that feels both medically informed and genuinely compassionate. I started this business because I wanted to be the kind of support person I wish I’d had—someone who understands the science and the emotions, and who can help make a really tough road feel just a little more manageable. I work virtually with individuals and couples who are navigating fertility treatments and just need someone in their corner who truly gets it. I offer support packages designed to meet people wherever they are in their fertility journey—from timed intercourse to IVF and donor cycles. Services include 1:1 virtual support sessions, personalized medication teaching, and on-demand texting support to provide guidance and reassurance when it’s needed most. I also offer free 30-minute Fertility Support Calls to anyone who might be interested or just needs a little extra TLC. It’s a great way to get to know who I am, ask questions about your fertility care, and see if I might be a good fit to support you in your journey. You can learn more or book a call at www.yourpocketfertilitynurse.com.

What do you do in your position?

I’m a registered nurse, and in this work, I support people going through all kinds of fertility treatments—whether that’s timed intercourse, IUI, IVF, or donor egg cycles. My goal is to help them feel less overwhelmed and more supported, every step of the way. I meet with clients 1:1 over Zoom, walk them through what to expect, prep them for medication administration, and offer real-time text support when questions or emotions come up (which often happens in the late evening hours, when the clinic is closed). I call myself your pocket fertility nurse because I’m truly here to be that steady, knowledgeable, compassionate presence you can lean on—whenever you need it. I bring both clinical insight and personal experience to the table, but more than anything, I just care deeply. This path can feel so lonely and confusing, and it’s easy to fall into the late-night spiral of Google, Reddit threads, and social media posts that leave you feeling more anxious than informed. My hope is to replace that spiral with real, grounded support—so patients feel less alone, more empowered, and truly held through it all.

Why do you love your job?

It’s incredibly meaningful to walk alongside people during such a vulnerable and emotional time. There’s nothing like watching someone go from feeling totally overwhelmed and alone to feeling empowered, informed, and supported. I don’t take that lightly. It’s an honor to be invited into people’s stories in this way—and it’s the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor? Please share!

Yes! I’m involved in a few ventures that are close to my heart. I volunteer with the Chicago Coalition for Family Building, a nonprofit dedicated to removing the financial barriers that often stand in the way of starting a family. Their mission is rooted in the belief that everyone who wants to build a family deserves the chance to do so. Through fully funded IVF cycles, adoption and surrogacy grants, LGBTQ+ family-building support, genetic testing, and emotional care, CCFB is doing incredible work to make fertility care more accessible—and I’m honored to play a small part in that mission. https://coalitionforfamilybuilding.org/ I also work at Roon, a company that creates expert-led video content to support people through some of life’s most emotional and complex transitions—from infertility to loss, caregiving, and beyond. I oversee the video review and editing pipeline, helping ensure the content we produce is clear, compassionate, and genuinely helpful to those who need it most. How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

This community has played a huge role in helping me get to where I am today. In early 2024, I discovered a new creative outlet—making custom sugar cookies. After a casual post in the Libertyville moms group, I was completely blown away by the response. I was flooded with inquiries, and that momentum led me to officially launch Laura’s Love Bites, LLC. The success and encouragement I received from this community through that experience gave me the confidence—and the push—I needed to take an even bigger leap: launching Navigating Fertility with Laura, LLC. Supporting others through fertility has been a long-time passion of mine, but for years I held back, unsure if I could really make it happen. The overwhelming support I received for Laura’s Love Bites reminded me that I am capable—and that this community shows up for each other. Since then, I’ve connected with so many other local business owners—especially women—and it’s been incredibly inspiring to see so many of us following our passions and building something meaningful. I’m endlessly grateful for the way this community lifts each other up.

What is your favorite thing about the Libertyville Area Moms Network?

What I love most about the Libertyville Area Moms Network is how it brings everything—and everyone—together in one place. It’s such a great way to learn about other local moms, discover small businesses, and stay in the loop on what’s happening around town. It really makes our community feel more connected and supportive.

Please share two fun facts about yourself.

I met my husband while we were both performers at Six Flags Great America. My husband and I are such big Disney fans that we’re training to run the Dopey Challenge at Disney World in 2026—four races (5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon) in four days!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?

The best advice I’ve ever gotten from another mom was simple but powerful: “You don’t have to do it alone.” That reminder came at a time when I was feeling overwhelmed and stretched way too thin—and it stuck with me. It helped me realize how important it is to lean on others, ask for help, and let support in—not just as a mom, but in all areas of life. That piece of advice has become a cornerstone of my work. I built Navigating Fertility with Laura around that exact idea: that no one should have to walk through the fertility journey alone. We all deserve someone in our corner.

Are you involved in any volunteering or philanthropy? Do you have a favorite local non-profit or charity?

In addition to volunteering for the Chicago Coalition for Family Building, our family is deeply involved with the Red Rose Children’s Choir of Lake County, a local nonprofit that provides exceptional music education and performance opportunities for young singers. My husband is one of the musical directors, and both of our boys sing in the choir—so it’s a big part of our lives. It’s such a special organization that not only nurtures musical talent but also builds confidence and community in kids, and we’re proud to support it in every way we can.

Can you share with us a past or present struggle in your personal or professional life?

One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced—personally and professionally—was going through infertility. It was a long, emotional, and often lonely journey that ultimately led us to IVF and, thankfully, to our two incredible kids. But at the time, I felt like I was living in two worlds: one where I had to hold it all together and function, and one where I was quietly falling apart inside. Even as a nurse, I struggled to make sense of it all. The medical process was overwhelming, the emotional weight was heavy, and it often felt like no one really understood what I was going through. That experience rocked me—but it also shaped me. It’s what led me to this work. To cope, I had to learn how to give myself permission to feel—grief, anger, fear, hope—and to find people who could hold space for me without trying to fix it. That’s a huge part of what I now try to offer others through my work: informed, empathetic support that meets people where they are. I also found strength in small rituals—like working out, reading books that had nothing to do with fertility, and finding little ways to reclaim joy. Mental wellness, for me, has become about honoring both the hard and the hopeful—and knowing that we can hold both at the same time.

Anything else you would like to share?

I’m just really grateful to be part of such a supportive and inspiring community of local moms, families, and small business owners. Libertyville has such a special energy—it’s full of people who lift each other up, and that’s something I don’t take for granted. If you’re ever navigating fertility or just curious about the work I do, I’m always happy to chat. And if you ever need custom cookies… I’ve got you there too.
