Meet A Mom: Heather | Libertyville Area Moms

Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?

Eric and I moved to Libertyville from downtown Chicago 14 years ago. I loved city life and I now love suburban life just as much. I went from prosecuting murder cases in Chicago to owning a small business that makes my community healthy and strong. I am a mom with two beautiful daughters: Eva (14) and Isabelle (12), and we just added a yellow lab to our family named Nala.

What is your perfect day?

A normal day for me starts with an early morning high energy workout with my community at Heather’s Gym, the only thing that would make a day more “perfect” is if it were followed by a massage and a swim in the ocean while someone cleaned my house … LOL.

What have the past 11 months of life with COVID been like for you?

Exhausting, fulfilling, frustrating and hopeful. Up and down just like everyone else! It was especially challenging as a small business owner and mom of school age kids doing remote learning, but like everyone else we did our best. I pivoted, rolled with the punches, and tried my best to keep a positive mindset. I felt responsible for my fitness community – it was important to me to keep the connection with my members as we struggled through this – mental and physical health are everything especially now. I am enormously proud to have held my community together during the chaos of this year.

What do you hope my daughters remember about 2020?

I hope my daughters look back and remember that they were resilient. I did not do anything to make the hardship less so for them and I did not hide how hard it was at times for me. I worry about them academically, as we all do with two school years so disrupted, but I really believe that ultimately kids will come out of this stronger. Eva wrote a chapter in a book called QuarenTEEN, which was a great experience for her. We came through this year as a team and I cannot think of a better life lesson than that.

What are your goals for 2021?

I am thrilled to open a second studio in a new location – RPM Cycle & Bootcamp will open in March 2021 at 1745 Northwind Blvd. in Libertyville. We will offer our dynamic brand of cycle fusion classes including yoga and TRX and there is an outdoor green space for Bootcamp. This will be in addition to our full schedule of classes at First Street. I am also bringing my community a full plate of holistic wellness this year: Clean Cut Challenges for nutrition, INBody body composition analysis, MyZone for training in and out of the studio, and my new IMPACT coaching series for mindset! I have worked hard to level up to bring my community what they need to be their best now that COVID is almost behind us!

What is the best advice you’re received?

The best advice I have ever received was from my mentor and coach Todd Durkin. I am part of his mastermind group of fitness professionals and he coaches us to always strive to serve better and to live our purpose. I try to serve my community better every day by encouraging them to love their bodies and to feel their best. I am fortunate to have found my purpose.
