Where are you from and how long have you lived in town? What brought you to the area?

I am from a little bit of everywhere…but all in the Midwest. I was born in Michigan, moved to Nebraska, back to Indiana and then finally ended up in the Chicago area about 15 years ago.

We have been a part of the Libertyville community for almost 5 years. My husband started working at a shop called Perfect Brewing Supply and we ended up purchasing it just a couple of years later. After that my kids started going to A Village Green Montessori and we have fallen in love with the area and the people.

Do you have children?

Yes – one son, Lincoln, my 4 year old little man constantly seeking adventure and a daughter, Stella, my sassy belle who just turned 2.

What are your favorite things to do in the area with and without kids? Family friendly restaurant? Date night?

We are brewery folks so that allows us to have both our family adventures and date nights. We usually venture to Tighthead Brewery in Mundelein. People that used to work at Perfect Brewing Supply and some wonderful customers are brewers over there…and it works as a nice date night as well. 😉We have also been known to travel to Light the Lamp or up to Only Child. Really any brewery in the area is a usual place for us to go.

When my husband and I can get away we will always shoot for Milwalky Taco. While it can be great for the whole fam, its much nicer when we can get away.

When it’s not food and drink that are driving the decisions, we tend to head north to ski at Wilmot (my  husband is on ski patrol up there) or head to the city for a Blackhawks game. My son is obsessed with hockey and I see my future in the stands…

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor or in the corporate world?

As I said before, my husband and I purchased Perfect Brewing Supply in Libertyville but just a few months before that, after the birth of my son catapulted me out of retail, I started VENTUREWRITE to help small businesses with their social media marketing.

I found out while I was on maternity leave (an intense 12 week download of all things social media while taking care of a tiny human) that social media is a very effective form of advertising and driving business for companies. But as effective as it is, small businesses often don’t have the time to focus on their own social- they are too busy trying to run their own companies! This year we are adding to our services so we will be able to help businesses with their digital marketing strategy, email marketing, blogging and website design. Our website services will be focused on WordPress and Shopify for seamless integration into an effective social media strategy. Our website is in the process of a MAJOR facelift but you can check us out at www.venturewrite.com.

When I’m not working with small businesses on their digital strategy through VENTUREWRITE or helping with the brew shop, I volunteer for a non-profit business incubator, Fresh Start Business Incubator. We offer free services to beginning businesses and events to help entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and more succeed in business. I have also just joined I’m Possible Women’s Empowerment Collaborative in the area – women helping women succeed in business is something I am very passionate about.

AND when we aren’t brewing, coaching businesses or on social media, we have a few rental properties in Fort Wayne, IN where my husband and I went to college.

It is often a very busy schedule for all of us in the Denton household!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Libertyville has been everything to helping us in our businesses.

I began going to a networking meeting at The Tranel Financial Group and met a ton of contacts who have helped to elevate my business to where it is today and continue to help me grow. The Libertyville community has also been instrumental in the success of Perfect Brewing Supply – without our amazing customers, their feedback and loyal patronage, we would not have been able to do so much in such a short amount of time.

We have made amazing contacts and made many friends through both our businesses. We have created partnerships with the great folks at Mickey Finn’s, Tighthead Brewing Company, Only Child and the Lake County and Vernon Hills park districts. We met the chef for Taste for Kids (an amazing home brewer) who introduced us to his wife who is the founding directoress at A Village Green Montessori where my kids go. We have been privileged to meet Lee from Milwalky Taco and John from Pizzeria DeVille, and important connections like our dentist Dr. Andy Wyshnytzky, another excellent homebrewer.

I could go on and on about all the amazing folks that we have had an opportunity to partner with and the wonderful friendships that we have created. We are truly lucky to be a part of the Libertyville community.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve torn my ACL 4 times.

Once in high school (basketball), twice in college where I played soccer, and once on a rec indoor soccer league. But I still run trail marathons!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?

I’m going to cheat on this one…I have 3 things I try to tell every mom that I was told…

My mom gave me two pieces of advice…never wake a sleeping baby and never let them sleep in silence. That way they can sleep anywhere! And I always tell moms one more thing – we aren’t perfect, don’t compare yourself to others, we are doing the best we can and that’s all we should ask of ourselves. Is that just one thing? Maybe not.

What is next for you?

I am launching another business! In addition to VENTUREWRITE, I incorporated Social Labyrinth. This is an app that I created for social media management companies that allows their clients to review their social media posts before they are published. It’s simple for the clients and efficient and time saving for the marketing teams.

So, in 2019 I am going to expand VENTUREWRITE, launch Social Labyrinth to the public and possibly write another book or two…my book I published last year desperately needs an update after all the changes at Facebook!

We shall see where the journey goes, regardless, every day is a wonderful adventure!
