SPOTLIGHT ON THE CENTER
At Hawthorn Mall, we are re-imagining the use of our 15,190-square-foot center court space with a groundbreaking design that will revolutionize the way customers experience the mall. The new design will transform our previously dated center court into a vibrant, exciting, “center park”-themed environment that will become a destination in itself and another reason people will visit the mall. By artfully combining green and hardscaped designs with incredible aesthetic appeal, the new space will encourage year-round usability. There will be a coffee shop and wine bar where people can congregate with friends and family. Comfortable soft seating, whimsical sculptures and plants will all add to the ambiance. The new space will open on Black Friday 2019, just in time for the holidays. MYPERKS PROGRAM CHANGES & LOUNGE GRAND OPENING
Earlier this year, Hawthorn Mall announced a significant upgrade to our “MyPerks” shopper loyalty program and, in May, the grand opening of the center’s brand-new MyPerks Lounge, an exclusive in-mall space located on the lower level near PlaySpace that is dedicated to the comfort and enjoyment of MyPerks members.
Through the enhanced MyPerks program, shoppers will gain access to members-only promotions and gift-with-purchase offers from Hawthorn Mall tenants. The new MyPerks Lounge will become a venue for special events and will provide a place for MyPerks members to rest and recharge.
SUMMER TOWN HALL MEETING
Steven Levin, CEO of Hawthorn Mall’s parent company, Centennial, together with other executives from Centennial and Hawthorn Mall, hosted a very successful Town Hall-style meeting in June with residents of Vernon Hills to discuss the mall’s planned redevelopment. Following opening remarks, attendees visited a series of information stations, then participated in an open Q&A session to put the community at ease with the coming changes.

Hawthorn Mall has generated significant buzz among area residents through a series of professional art installations created on-site by renowned artists including Myron Laban, Anthony Lewellen and Ruben Rojas. The public was invited to watch these artistic expressions take shape and share their thoughts on social media using the hashtag #ARTatHawthorn. SEE CENTENNIAL INITIATIVES
Hawthorn Mall’s SEE Centennial sustainability initiative underscores our belief that the future of shopping centers is a greener one with important milestones like these:
- We diverted 179 tons of waste last year alone by working with you to recycle cardboard; that’s the equivalent of 2,506 Volkswagen Beetles, and our combined efforts saved 3,043 trees!
- Our Volta electric vehicle charging stations have provided 29,857 miles of clean driving and conserved 656 gallons of gasoline.
- By re-using viable materials while performing roof improvements, we avoided adding 67 tons of refuse to local landfills.
- During our Earth Day Expo, we recycled 500 pairs of shoes; donated 1,000+ toiletries; and collected 3,000+ plastic bags to become sleeping mats for the homeless.
