You don’t need to travel far to enjoy the best of summer! Just grab your beach bag, pack up the kids and come on out to one of our three Splash-tastic  locations: Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center, Spray Park and Diamond Lake Beach.

 

 

Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center, 1461 Midlothian Road, Mundelein, IL

Barefoot Bay is a six acre family water retreat. Features include: 740-ft lazy river, zero depth pool & lap lanes, fenced tot swim area, single/double tube slides, 12-ft dive well & diving board,  climb-on, floating water walk, AquaClimb water wall and more!

 

Barefoot Bay has summer events for all ages. Events include:


Daytime events:

Flag Day, June 14: Come to the pool dressed patriotically and receive a $3 discount on admission.
Leroy the Lobster’s Birthday, June 30:
Celebrate Barefoot Bay’s Mascot, Leroy the Lobster’s birthday with us.  We will cap off this fun-filled day by singing “Happy Birthday” and serving free dessert.
Season Passholders Appreciation Day, July 29: To show our great appreciation, each passholder will receive a small gift and have an opportunity to enter drawings for prizes!

 

Evening Events:

 

 

Margaritaville (21+), July 13, 8:15–10:15 pm: Leave the kids at home and enjoy an evening swim at Barefoot Bay! Alcoholic beverages will be available to purchase. No outside beverages will be allowed inside. This is strictly a 21+ event. I.D. required for entrance.

Craft Beer Night (21+), July 27, 8:15–10:15 pm:  Come for an evening swim and enjoy some fine beer from Tighthead Brewery Company right here in Mundelein. No outside beverages will be allowed inside. This is a strictly 21+ event. I.D. required for entrance.

 

 

Free! National Night Out Barefoot Bay Evening Swim, August 6, 6–10 pm. Swim for free in the evening at Barefoot Bay and enjoy the Movie in the Park and other activities.

Diamond Lake Beach has been a Park District destination for summer fun for over 40 years. Set on 100 acres, Diamond Lake Beach is a great place to cool off and frolic in the water, catch a little sun or build a sand castle. There is a beach play ground, as well as a floating “Rodeo Splash” from Wibit®. Ever try a Key log®? Test your log rolling prowess on ours! Rent one of our paddle boats, paddle boards or kayaks. Plan a picnic in our shaded picnic area with shelters.

 

 

Diamond Lake Beach’s main event is Beach Bash which is free to everyone on June 22 from 10am-8pm.

 

Beach Bash Schedule:
10 am: Zumba on the beach
11 am: Yoga on the beach
1 pm: Ninja Warrior Competition (see below)
3 pm: Cardboard Regatta (see below)
6 pm: Wonder Lake Ski Show Team

 

 

Ninja Warrior Competition (Ages 6–12) 1 pm, Cost $2

Cardboard Regatta (Ages 10+)
Grab some friends and construct a boat using only cardboard, duct tape, and paint, then sail away at Diamond Lake Beach. Awards will be presented to the fastest boats in each class, as well as a host of other awards based on creativity, enthusiasm, and more. Official rules will be provided upon registration. Join us for a free Cardboard Regatta boat building session on Thursday, June 13 from 4 pm – 6 pm at Diamond Lake Beach. Must be registered in the Regatta to attend. Cardboard and basic supplies provided.

Spray Park is geared for younger children and tots and features larger-than-life spraying flowers, water cannons and a sand play area with hands-on, built-in fun. There are two distinct splash areas; one is designed for younger children and one for older.The first splash area has gentlemisters, arching water sprayers, large flowers dripping water, a small crab for kids to climb on and water bubblers that changes height. The second splash area, showcases a giant lighthouse that shoots out water as it goes around. There are large sprayers, misters and water cannons for the kids to use as well.

 

There is also a huge sand box with a water feature that is separated from the splash pads by a shaded sitting area. It has convenient vending for snacks, canopied lounging areas and a covered picnic area, shuffleboard and sand volleyball areas, too. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot day and admission rates are very reasonable at just $1 for Mundelein residents or $2 for nonresidents,(everyone must pay entrance fee regardless of age).
