Announcing Mundelein Park & Recreation’s New Children’s Book: “My New Mask” | Libertyville Area Moms

My New Mask, a book published by Mundelein Park & Recreation District helps children understand why they need to wear a mask.

Proceeds go to support Mundelein Parks Foundation.

This reassuring story helps children understand why they need to wear a mask and acknowledges how life is different during the Covid-19 pandemic. The story is told twice, once in English and once in Spanish.

It was created by Christa Lawrence, Marketing Manager at Mundelein Park & Recreation District.

“I wrote and illustrated this story to help children adapt to the changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and created a video to be played on social media.

Later, I realized that we could turn these efforts into a book and use the proceeds to benefit Mundelein Parks Foundation.” said Lawrence. “We usually fundraise through events, however, we had to cancel many of these events this year due to the Pandemic. This is just a small way to bring funds to the Foundation.”

The Mundelein Parks Foundation seeks to strengthen community and family ties with a self-generating funding source to finance recreational scholarships to the disadvantaged of the Mundelein community.

With the financial strain of the pandemic, we believe there will be more need ever for financial assistance for programs like camp, dance and swim instruction. We hope you will consider buying a copy for a child you know and supporting the Foundation.
