Meet A Mom
I’m happy to share with you Kristy’s story! Kristy is a wife and mother who has a strong love for cooking instilled in her by her Mom. They spent many hours together in the kitchen while Kristy was growing up in their home in Libertyville. This love of food and cooking is what inspired her to create a page loved by many in town, the Libertyville Recipe Swap. Started during the pandemic, it helped to keep Kristy and everyone connected and focused on something positive and fun! This Mom has a huge heart and I love her advice that in the storms of life remember there will eventually be the Sun. Read our full interview to learn more about Kristy, her family, her love of food and favorite local spots like Chrissoulas, Shakou, Milwalky Trace, Lou Malnati’s, Bill’s Pub and in Maple & Ash in downtown Chicago!
Over the Summer, our neighborhood had our first Food Truck Night (socially-distanced style, of course!) courtesy of Mamma Mia Pizza! We all thought the food was delicious, convenient, and Angela and Alessandro were wonderful to meet! They made everything so easy, fun and delicious. Read our interview to learn more about them, their story, and their local favorites like Sweet Home Gelato, Tighthead Brewing Company and Cook Memorial Library!
TLMN spoke to the actress and advocate about everything from pandemic parenting to the new SBTB!
I’m so proud to introduce you to the Long Grove Mom! She has three kids, a husband who is also originally from Minnesota, and she adores her community and living life in the historic Long Grove. It suits her well seeing that she loves history herself and it’s infused in her business Home by Dani: Breathing New Life Into Old Things. Danielle curates items and shares them on her Etsy shop. She helps you incorporate these unique discoveries into your home, office or business. She describes herself as an old soul and after you read her interview you’ll feel like she is an old friend! She has a way with words and I know you’ll enjoy reading about her family, business, and how her daughter taught her whole family about showing kindness and compassion. This family of five loves to spend time together in the area and has so many local favorites like Corked, Covered Bridge Creamery, Signature Popcorn, Enzo & Lucia’s, Chatterbox, Buffalo Creek Brewery, Long Grove Coffee Co., Ma & Pa’s Candy and Royal Melbourne. They also love to go outside of Long Grove to Glacier Ice Rink, Code Ninjas and Buffalo Park District. I hope you enjoy learning about Dani just as much as I did!
Today’s Meet a Mom is a sweet one! #sponsored We chatted with @sweetlorens founder (and soon-to-be new mom!) Loren Brill about her delicious cookie dough—made with clean ingredients. Her refrigerated premade cookie dough and edible cookie doughs are all made with non-GMO ingredients, gluten-free and vegan. As much as we love the flavor and ingredient list of Loren’s products, we really loved her story–how a health crisis lead to the launch of her business. I’m so excited to introduce you to one of my closest friends! Jen and I were co-workers almost 20 years ago right out of college at JPMorgan Chase and she’s been one of my best friends ever since. They live in Lincoln Park but come to visit us here often and enjoy going to Mickey Finn’s, Lifetime Fitness and Great Wolf Lodge. Their favorite spots in the city are Lincoln Park Zoo, Alfred Caldwell Lily Pools, Chicago Park District, Ricardo’s, Summer House and Green Tea Sushi. When I met Jen decades ago her boyfriend was moving here to live near her and start a business. They flipped one condo, had an amazing destination wedding in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica that I attended, and the rest is history! Years later and her husband Mike is a builder and real estate developer in Chicago with an event space and they recently built a luxury Villa in – you guessed it – Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica! Read our interview to learn more about Jen, her family and their businesses! The travel industry is expected to bounce right back so start dreaming of a family trip, corporate trip, or women’s wellness retreat at this villa with stunning ocean and jungle views including a view of the renowned National Park of Manuel Antonio!
These three sisters, two of which are Moms, have been guiding me to pick affordable fashion and home decor for months! I love their account @amazingfinders and was thrilled to get to know more about them in our interview! Read on to learn the story behind Jackie, Katie and Andrea’s business and family. I loved learning about their favorite local spots, vacation spots (we have the same one – Long Boat Key, Florida) and podcasts. We could all use more positivity in our lives so I’ll be checking out Bobby Bones’ “Tell Me Something Good”. Follow these sweet siblings to for some stylish inspiration!

I’m grateful to know Jenifer who is a supportive, local Mom and small business owner! Here is her introduction to the LAM Community – Looking back to a year ago, I never would have expected that a little chance I took would grow in to such an amazing blessing for our family and a source of joy for so many! I am just a mom that took a leap of faith on a fun little business idea and now have a full heart and a full schedule as the proud owner of Card My Yard – Libertyville, which has really flourished through these uncertain times. I get to do something I love, I have the privilege of growing a small business out of my garage and am blessed with a loving family, including 3 amazing children who are so fun to watch grow and find their own paths! I constantly wish I had a few more hours in each day, but am thankful that I get my chance to “Do It All”.
WOW! It was really fun interviewing with Kristine and learning about how her business started right here in Libertyville over 17 years ago! She has been actively involved in the community for over a quarter of a century, volunteering and giving back in so many ways. Let’s try and support her and our local stores this holiday season during this critical time to keep our stores open for years to come. Read more to find out how she started out of her dining room and her journey to where she is today!
